Dollar-ruble futures. Advantages and Disadvantages of Trading

Starting this article, I hope that you already know what futures are, and in particular currency futures fx. Let's look at currency contracts that are traded on the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange), since other exchanges have very small volumes compared to the CME, so there is no point in looking at other exchanges.

The most popular instruments among traders are currency futures for: euro, Japanese yen, British pound, Swiss franc, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand dollar, that is, all the major major pairs on Forex. This is due to the fact that they have the largest volumes on the CME exchange and the highest liquidity. Cross rates, mini (micro) contracts and emerging market currencies are not very popular due to very low liquidity.

Earning option

Many people are at a loss as to where to start trading. Stock quotes, bonds, futures contracts and much more - all this misleads a beginner. But if you have experience trading Forex or binary options, then futures will be the best choice for you.

Futures are futures contracts potentially designed for the delivery of commodities. Such goods are most often oil and metals. But modern exchanges are capable of selling both raw materials and products. So, for example, you may well buy a fixed-term contract for a transaction, say, in wheat or corn.

In the Russian Federation, the main platform for working with this type of transactions is FORTS - Futures and Options of the Russian Trading System, RTS. This is a branch of the Moscow Exchange, which is regulated by it, but at the same time, it is a separate trading platform focused specifically on futures transactions and operations for the purchase/sale of futures and options.

Contract expiration

You should always remember that futures are derivatives instruments with an expiration date. Some futures have monthly contracts, and some have quarterly (3 months). A trader must always know the expiration date of the contract he is working on and, when expiration approaches, have time to close positions on time, otherwise his transactions will be closed forcibly.

The major currency futures on the CME exchange have quarterly contracts. Expiration occurs every three months: March, June, September, December.

Online trading

The variations of trading on the Internet are very diverse. In addition to the already established methods of making a profit on Forex and binary options, working on the stock exchange is becoming increasingly popular, which is also becoming available to everyone.

Most often, work with exchange platforms is carried out through the Quik Internet terminal, as well as special systems of brokers that you prefer. In fact, you can start working on a real stock exchange from home quite quickly and without any problems.

  • Choose a broker that provides an online terminal for independent trading. Also pay attention to whether it gives you access to the sites and assets that interest you. To find out, just write an email to the support service, call, or visit the office.
  • After that, register with a broker. To do this, you must present a scanned copy of your documents or visit the office. Papers are signed for the provision of services, as well as for opening a depository account.
  • Next, you get a terminal. It can be either online, that is, located on the broker’s website, or “cold,” that is, downloaded and installed on your personal computer. Afterwards you can start working.
