The Thai director takes the typical tools of cinema (actors, drama, editing) and creates something different. And this is the most important thesis for understanding Apitchatpon Weerasethakul: he does not create cinema, he creates something else. If you can find an approach to his films, understand and share the director’s creative philosophy, then you will greatly expand your understanding not only of cinema, but also of art in general.
